Faith Formation

In the Catechism of the Catholic Church #4 it states, “The name catechesis was given to the totality of the Church’s efforts to make disciples, to help men and women believe that Jesus is the Son of God so that believing they might have life in his name, and to educate and instruct them in this life, thus building up the body of Christ.” It goes on to state, “The aim of catechetical activity consists…to encourage a living, explicit and fruitful profession of faith [#1229].

Discipleship then, is the goal of all faith formation.  Through faith formation the Church seeks to inform, form and transform individuals, families, and the entire community in the Catholic faith. The Church attempts to nurture our minds and hearts so that who we are and how we live is deeply influenced by the Christian vision of a life in Christ.

In order for us to be excellent witnesses of God’s glory and power, we must be intentional in setting aside time to worship, to pray, to study God’s Word, and to form ourselves in the ways of the Lord. What we are called to become “the holy people God” does not happen by accident or by chance. We are transformed in our intentional efforts to seek the One who satisfies our hunger and thirsts, Jesus the Savior of the World.

The Church of the Resurrection currently offers

a number of programs for members of the parish

to grow in their faith.

Adult Faith Formation

Adults gather for a variety of faith formation opportunities.  These include weekly scripture study, seasonal programs during Advent and Lent, annual retreats and biannual revivals.

Adults who wish to join the Catholic Church participate in the Christian Initiation of Adults.  Some who are already Catholic join them to deepen their faith and to support those on the journey toward initiation in the Catholic Church.

Children's Faith Formation

Children gather at the Church of the Resurrection for several faith formation events.   These include Sunday Liturgy of the Word for Children, Vacation Bible School and other events that help them grow in their knowledge and love of the Lord.
