Sing to the Lord a new song, a hymn in the assembly of the faithful.
The Church of the Resurrection believes in singing the praises of God. Our Gospel Choir helps us to do that at the 10:00 a.m. Mass on Sundays.
The Choir rehearses almost every Thursday evening from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. in the church. They provide leadership in song at the 10:00 am Mass. They often sing on holy days and at other special celebrations. Many choir members also help provide music at funerals.
Cantors are usually members of the choir with the ability to sing solo and lead the community in song. They help the community when we sing a song, especially one we are in the process of learning, lead the assembly in the responsorial psalm, help the assembly to come in at the right moments during the Eucharistic acclamations. They help us to praise and worship the Lord with our whole being as we sing together to the glory of God. They generally minister about once a month, and rehearse with the director of music at least once before they minister.
The Children’s and Teen’s Choir rehearse for a short period of time after the 10:00 a.m. Mass and sing at that Mass once a month and on special occasions. At least one adult who has been certified to work with children through the Archdiocesan Decree on Child Protection Training must be present for each rehearsal.
